The country's restrictive ballot access laws make it very difficult for a socialist third-party campaign, and each state has its own particular laws and anti-democratic ballot qualifications. To overcome these restrictions, the La Riva for President campaign will be seeking ballot access by uniting with various progressive and socialist candidates and parties.
Nationally, Gloria La Riva's running mate is Eugene Puryear, a D.C.-based leader in the Movement for Black Lives and other activist struggles. They are the candidates of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
In California, New Mexico, Iowa and Colorado Gloria’s VP running mate is Dennis Banks, co-founder of the American Indian Movement. In New Mexico, Iowa and Colorado they will appear on the ballot together as the Party for Socialism and Liberation candidates. In California they will appear as the Peace and Freedom Party candidates.
